Empowering Growth

Bill Arnett, Psy.D.

Licensed Psychologist

Walking into your first session is a big deal. It's hard meeting with a person you have never met to talk about your most private and intimate feelings, thoughts, and experiences. You are entrusting your therapist with your self-esteem, your fears, and your inner-most strivings. I will do my best to be worthy of your confidence.

People develop unique coping strategies to deal with stress and to feel good about themselves. As we mature, these coping strategies turn into self-protective emotional and behavioral patterns. These patterns guide how we deal with our emotions, our relationships, and our aspirations for life.

Unfortunately, coping patterns that were once useful can become outdated and hold us back from living fully. With curiosity and compassion, we'll explore where these emotional and behavioral patterns came from and how life experiences have shaped you. We will then work together to create and implement new patterns for life that will lead you to greater happiness, more satisfying relationships, and a stronger sense of agency.

Treatment Modalities

My therapeutic style is centered around empathy and respect for you. I use an integrative trauma-informed approach that draws upon several evidence-based therapies to help you achieve your therapeutic goals. I have advanced training and experience in: Humanistic/Client Centered Therapies; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Motivational Interviewing; Family Systems Therapy (Couples and Family Therapy); Psychodynamic/Object Relations Therapy; and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP).
